friends
If you are a good listener
and can be trusted, you may be able to help your friends when they have
hassles. If your friend has a major problem you need to...
-
Recognise when you can
help and when you can’t
-
Tell your friend you
cannot solve this problem for them
-
Encourage your friend to
develop his or her own network of trusted adults, and to talk to one
or more of them about this
-
Use your own support
network at this time if you feel stressed about their situation or
under pressure from them.
Think of five people you know
who could form part of your support network, such as a parent, older
brother/sister, other relatives, teacher, neighbour, pastor, youth
leader, family friend. Write their names in the order of first choice.
These are only general
suggestions. You should always seek outside help if you are unsure what
to do. If you need to talk to someone right now you can call
